Science and Technology Community of Rome, NY to Host High Tech Small Business Symposium & Women in Business Roundtable

ROME, NY — The Science and Technology community of Rome, New York, will be hosting a High Tech Small Business Symposium with participation from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Mohawk Valley Community College, 1101 Floyd Ave, Rome, New York.

High Tech Small Business Symposium

Small businesses are a vital resource in supporting national interests and for enhancing America’s industrial base. This Small Business Symposium will feature keynote speakers, Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Commander General Ellen Pawlikowski and New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Hochul, discussing Federal and State small business initiatives.

The event will feature an information session on AFMC & AFRL Small Business Programs, technology transfer, commercialization, entrepreneurship, and processes for growing small businesses. Agencies that support small businesses will be on hand for counseling and advising. Successful small businesses will be highlighted at display booths and available for discussions.

A Women in Leadership Roundtable discussion will be held, where General Pawlikowski and Lieutenant Governor Hochul will be joined by local women business, community and government leaders to share their experiences in overcoming varying obstacles on their path to success. In addition, the panel will discuss the issues, good and bad, that impact small business growth.

“The rich STEM resources of this region make Rome the perfect city to host this unique science and technology small business event. The presence of the Air Force Research Laboratory, our home grown, high tech companies, and science and technology universities, create an environment where companies can flourish,” says Michele Salisbury, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rome Chamber of Commerce, and CFO & Director of Economic Development, NYSTEC. “This event is an opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs to learn more about what our community has to offer, and to support developing and growing small science and technology companies.”
