GI Now Accepting Applications for 2021 Summer Internship Program at AFRL Information Directorate

2021 summer intern applications now being accepted

ROME, NY — The 2021 application cycle has begun for Griffiss Institute’s Summer Internship Program at the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate (AFRL/RI). This is a paid summer internship opportunity for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university at the freshman level through PhD level, to work on-site with AFRL/RI researchers on a wide variety of research projects.

The majority of the students selected will be majoring in technical fields such as Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. There may also be a few positions available in Accounting and Finance, as well as Multimedia, such as Graphic Communications, and Marketing.

For applicants who reside more than 50 miles from Rome, New York, allowances will be available to help cover the cost of travel and living expenses if selected for a position.

“Year after year, the Griffiss Institute and AFRL/RI continue to receive over 600 applications from across the country for a potential position in this highly competitive and coveted internship program,” says Mike Wessing, Griffiss Institute Acting President/Chief Engineer. “This past summer, even with the ongoing pandemic, students were offered and provided internships and the opportunity to be involved, through virtual means, with the most valuable, challenging, and educational work, right here in Rome, New York. We’re looking forward to another summer of productive and talented interns.”

The application deadline is Sunday, January 31, 2021. Resumes and current transcripts are required with each application. Summer internships at AFRL/RI are for U.S. Citizens only.
