UTICA, NY – On Friday, November 9, 2018, CNY Drones will hold a Drone Info Session for Women & Girls, 6:00 to 8:00pm in the SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing (CGAM), Donovan Hall.
Hosted by the SUNY Academy of Model Aeronautics Student Club (SUNY AMA), the event is part of a collaborative effort to spread positive information about drone technology to the community. Women of all ages will have an exclusive opportunity to try flight simulators and indoor drones under the guidance of AMA members. The program is a continuation of efforts to guide young women into STEM fields supported through funding from the Women’s Fund of Oneida and Herkimer Counties and the Air Force Research Lab. The event is free. No pre-registration is required.
The Info Session coincides with a Student Build, Fly and Take Home Drone Workshop presented by CNY Drones and SUNY AMA. Session attendees will be able to view the workshop in-progress and take a tour of the new $10 Million CGAM facility that includes a Maker Space, Fabrication Lab, Robotics Lab, and 3D Printing Lab. A drone display will show the various recreational drones flown by area enthusiasts. Mentors will be available to discuss various educational and employment opportunities growing around the New York State Drone Test Corridor. Although the focus of the event will be on women, program is open to anyone with an interest in drones, age 11+.
