Tiny Whoop Drone Build, Fly & Take Home Workshop

Rome, NY – CNY Drones is hosting a second Tiny Whoop Drone Build, Fly & Take Home Workshop on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Utica Jewish Community Center (JCC) for ages 11 and up. This 4-hour event is for those who may have tried a drone, but want to know where to begin as a hobbyist.  Experienced drone enthusiasts will share their knowledge and encourage new drone owners to join in on future events. The workshop will be held from noon to 4:00 pm in the JCC Auditorium, where a netted test flight zone will allow flyers to get practice with the help of experienced pilots in a controlled environment. The group hopes the program will help grow their MultiGP Racing Chapter as well as their Model Aviation Student Club by offering quality beginner advice along with a soup-to-nuts kit. Cost is $375. Each participant will receive their own drone frame, electronics, motor, wiring, transmitter, camera, FPV goggles, batteries and charging station. Step by step instructions will give participants experience in building, flying, safety, and rebuilding and repair. Participants must pre-register with payment received no later than 4 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 to allow adequate time for kit shipping. Workshop size is limited to 8-10 participants.  Registration fills up quickly.

In addition to workshops, CNY Drones offers drone clinics, interactive demonstrations, drone races and competitions. The volunteer group also hosts an informational hub to keep the local drone community connected to events, safety updates, and the latest industry and technical information. CNY Drones recent partnership with JCC is part of the Utica Jewish Community Federation’s STEM initiative. JCC’s Board sees the need to offer enrichment programs that keep students engaged from preschool to grade school and beyond. The STEM initiative’s goal is to establish the JCC as a go-to STEM venue. CNY Drones found the JCC to be a great central location as they establish partnerships with those wishing to increase STEM access.
